Not sewing related!

Did you know about the golden hour? It occurs twice per day and it gives an AMAZING light. I was yesterday years old when I learned about it! And who taught me, my son who is almost 11!!! Shouldn’t I teach him things like that!?! haha! Anyway, we went out and took some duo-ies (plural of selfie?) and they became very nice. A couple walked by us, laughing and telling us that we will have very nice pictures and memories of this. And yeah, I must admit, we did. Not too happy putting my sons face public, so will blur him out but here’s one of the pictures we took during this golden hour. And yes, before anyone points it out, I know he is catching up with me in length haha!

Note, the times in the featured picture are those in Bergschenhoek, where we live 🙂

Bike ride, 26 km!

So, yesterday we went on a bike ride to a nice lake close to Delft. It was 13 km one way. We had picnic with us and also stopped one time on the way to save out poor butts. When we got there, there was a “not recommended to swim” because of blue algae (is that the right word? hmm). Anyway, so we had our picnic under a tree and then we biked home again.
Well, today the kid woke up having a mild sunstroke (I hope he learned a lesson to drink more!). Gave some rehydration drink and been stuffing him full of fluids all day and kept him inside. I remember having it at least 2 times when I was a kid, and I learned my lesson the 2nd time it seems! It is not easy “forcing” them to drink when they are older than 4! Anyway, here is a pic from our bike tour yesterday. Tomorrow it is back to the top floor and some more sewing!

Just one of those weeks!

First week of my sons summer vacation from school so working is a bit on and off. Tuesday morning I started my work-day with sewing 2 sleeves together instead of on the front and back piece. Wednesday, I tried to sew a border without having thread in the machine. And the worst part was, took me a minute to figure it out why there was no seam. 🤣
Guess worrying about a friend, and having your head in all different places than it should, and some lack of sleep, does that to you!
But, I keep going! I always say that the seam ripper is the seamstresses best friend! Yep yep!

Taking pictures

Now, my biggest problem with taking pictured for the site is, the thing I am taking a picture of needs to lay flat, but it is not meant to be flat. Babies and toddler are anything but flat. So I kind of gave up making the pictures here fantastic, because I don’t want to use AI. Better natural than fake in my opinion. Do you agree?

Like the picture above. It looks very wide but when you put a baby in there, it is not so wide anymore. Thoughts?

Diaper covers

So, what do you think. Can handmade diaper covers make a comeback? They are cute, handy and can come in whatever color you like. I have had this pattern from when my son was little, drew off some old ones I had around. It is great for the summer when you might want to have the babies only in a diaper, but then you can have this on top of the diaper and suddenly they are dressed!

StoffenSpektakel!

Finally! Off me and Marie went to look and feel on fabrics. I found 2 fabrics for my son (look at the picture) and I bought the tracing paper that I needed. Marie found a cute fabric for her dogs pillow. But the major things was, WE were out among OTHER people! For the first time in what feels like forever! Had to show our vaccination app when going for a coffee but that was all. No restrictions or anything!

Long time no blog!

Well, it has been quite a while since I last wrote here. The main reason is that the webpage service I had was SUPER slow and stuff like creating post didn’t work very well. So it took away all the joy of sharing my thoughts and creations away. But!!! Now I have “moved” service so I am back! Added some items in the shop last night and will add them on Facebook today or tomorrow. Here is what I have worked with since I last blogged:
