What am I?

This is a very good question, that I am asked quite a lot. What they mean is ofc what I do for a living. The short answer is a seamstress. The not so short answer would be: I am a small business owner with a vision and dream. A dream that handmade clothes doesn’t have to be expensive. For me, it means finding fabric on sale for example and make a dress out of it. Or pants. Or a set. Something. And offer this at a lower price than most handmade clothes. Some people say I do not value the time I have put on this. Well, I have. My time to make someone happy, feeling special, is a lot worth. Can’t be measured on money. To put a smile on a child’s face when they put on something that is not mass produced by a big clothing chain.

So what am I? A stay at home mom with a hobby she loves. That she made in to a business.

Because ofc, if you come to me, and wants me to buy a fabric that is 30 Euro, I am not going to only charge you 10 for a child dress. Then I will calculate how much the fabric will cost, and the extra materials, and give you a suggestion. This is why I needed the business, The Sewing Swede, to be allowed to take orders. 😀

Last week, all I did was cut cut cut and cut some more. I have planned to have 1 week cutting, and next week sewing. Because it is too time consuming to change between the 2 on the same day. I will only do that with orders that needs to be finished a certain time.

Back on the blog finally!

Hey people! It has been a while. And the short explanation is that the plugin for sharing on social media stopped working so then I would have to post everything 2 times, first here and then there. So I decided to go with Facebook for a while, maybe you have followed me there!

The LONG explanation is that I have moved, broken 2 toes, renovated the house we moved to, and just didnt have the patience to sit down and look for another plugin to do what I needed it to do. But now it is fixed!! Whoooop! Well to half at least. Still need to get it to Instagram, unless that works as well. We will soon find out.

So, today, I have finally started with cutting up the smaller pieces I have laying around. To make makeup pads and stuff from the leftover fabric after making something bigger. I like to use the whole meter, we need to stop wasting so much stuff that we can actually use.

Corona Lockdown continues

We have found out that 2 of my sons teachers has tested positive for Covid19, I am a but worried. But nothing I can do about the situation than to keep my chin up. So, I started clearing off my scraps that I have saved for… better days hehe. I can’t really sew when I have my son home, because I can’t hear him up to the 3rd floor. So cutting scraps it is. Well, it needs to be done so.. hehe.

Squares!

Started sorting all the small squares I have saved. To get them a bit color coordinated. And to know how much I have of each. Oh my I have many! Well as you can see on the pictures, I am not even close to done so I guess I will continue after the monster (my son) has gone to bed. If he is with me, all he will do is telling me ALL the things he wants me to make for him! Which I do not mind doing but maybe not with small squares ????
