What am I?

This is a very good question, that I am asked quite a lot. What they mean is ofc what I do for a living. The short answer is a seamstress. The not so short answer would be: I am a small business owner with a vision and dream. A dream that handmade clothes doesn’t have to be expensive. For me, it means finding fabric on sale for example and make a dress out of it. Or pants. Or a set. Something. And offer this at a lower price than most handmade clothes. Some people say I do not value the time I have put on this. Well, I have. My time to make someone happy, feeling special, is a lot worth. Can’t be measured on money. To put a smile on a child’s face when they put on something that is not mass produced by a big clothing chain.

So what am I? A stay at home mom with a hobby she loves. That she made in to a business.

Because ofc, if you come to me, and wants me to buy a fabric that is 30 Euro, I am not going to only charge you 10 for a child dress. Then I will calculate how much the fabric will cost, and the extra materials, and give you a suggestion. This is why I needed the business, The Sewing Swede, to be allowed to take orders. 😀

Last week, all I did was cut cut cut and cut some more. I have planned to have 1 week cutting, and next week sewing. Because it is too time consuming to change between the 2 on the same day. I will only do that with orders that needs to be finished a certain time.

Back on the blog finally!

Hey people! It has been a while. And the short explanation is that the plugin for sharing on social media stopped working so then I would have to post everything 2 times, first here and then there. So I decided to go with Facebook for a while, maybe you have followed me there!

The LONG explanation is that I have moved, broken 2 toes, renovated the house we moved to, and just didnt have the patience to sit down and look for another plugin to do what I needed it to do. But now it is fixed!! Whoooop! Well to half at least. Still need to get it to Instagram, unless that works as well. We will soon find out.

So, today, I have finally started with cutting up the smaller pieces I have laying around. To make makeup pads and stuff from the leftover fabric after making something bigger. I like to use the whole meter, we need to stop wasting so much stuff that we can actually use.

House hunting and autumn!

My very best childhood friend and me have recently reconnected. And being who I am, I need to make her kids something. Well and her as well. I need to give some of me even though I am far away. So, I cant tell just yet, what I have made (since she will probably read this) but I promise that I will place pictures as soon as she has received it!

We have been house hunting lately. Found an awesome house, placed a bid but boooom, outbid with 50k Euro. Sweet lord. So now we took a step back and will think through how much time we want to put on it. We have at least decided that we want to stay in the area, mainly because of our son.

Autumn is here which means more indoors and chilly weather. So not as much time anymore in the afternoon to create . But today, before getting my son, I finished a pillow case for my sister in law. She needed a spare one. 😀

I used the pillow to make a pattern for it.

Facebook screwups

Since Facebook has decided I can’t have a shop on my Facebook page, I will just start using my blog more. I am really done with fb changing things and I have to redo everything all over again. But hey, that’s the good thing with also having your own webpage, it’s yours hehe.

Well, lately I have been creating a lot of mouth caps (we just went back in to semi lockdown), gifts for my sons friend who had birthdays. And washable cotton pads! Lets try and save the nature a bit at a time.

Here below are some of the things I have done lately.

An old gaming friend

An old gaming (World of Warcraft) friend contacted me this weekend, asking if I could make something for him. And well, anyone who knows me, knows that I will not say no unless I think I can’t make it. So said and done. Today when C was at the neighbor, playing with his bestie, I had time to create. 1.5 hour from cutting the fabric til the text was on there. Not too bad 😀 The pattern is a Jelly shirt fro the creator Puperita. First one I make but not the last. Easy pattern and came out great!

At least some things done!

After a night of very little sleep, I at least got some things done today! After dropping my son at the school, I finished some stuff I started on Thursday. I love the fabric with ladybugs on! Reminds of a summer that is soon coming. So 3 garments were made. The shorts and romper pattern is from Puperita and the tank tops are pattern from Patterns for Pirates. It’s the first time I make any of them so quite proud of how they turned out. Tomorrow I am back to drawing patterns again.
